How do you insert a caption below a pic in a Word document?

I've inserted a pic into a paper I'm writing, and I'd like to throw in a caption so my prof knows what the picture represents. Unfortunately, when I go to Format--%26gt;Picture, the tab labeled ';Text Box'; is grayed out. What do I need to do to be able to add in a line or two of text below the picture? How do you insert a caption below a pic in a Word document?
Select the item you want to add a caption to.

On the Insert menu, point to Reference, and then click Caption.

In the Label list, select the label that best describes the object, such as a picture or equation. If the list doesn't provide the correct label, click New Label, type the new label in the Label box, and then click OK.

Select any other options you want. How do you insert a caption below a pic in a Word document?
right click on the picture and press the ';caption'; button.
type what you want your caption to be. Then use the insert autoshapes button and pick the square. Then drag the square to make it the size of your text. Then right click the square and click format autoshape. Click the layout tab and choose behind text. You might have to resize the square to fit around the text.
